LaSalle police chief announces retirement

Mar. 1, 2024, LaSalle, Ont. – After 33 years of dedicated and honourable service to law enforcement, Chief Duncan Davies of the LaSalle Police Service has announced that he will retire effective Oct. 1, 2024.

Chief Davies began his career as a constable with the LaSalle Police Service in 1996. He worked as a community patrol officer and was later assigned to the criminal investigation division. He completed his Certificate in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Windsor in 2006 and in 2014 was promoted to Sergeant. Chief Davies was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2019 where he proved to be an integral part of the LaSalle Police Service administrative team.  In 2021, Chief Leontowicz announced his retirement. Chief Davies was set for retirement but was strongly encouraged by the members of the LaSalle Police Service to submit his application for the position of Chief of Police.

In 2021, Chief Davies competed against many other candidates for the position of Chief and was selected by the LaSalle Police Services Board to lead the Police Service.

Chief Davies has been an unwavering pillar of integrity, leadership and, strength throughout his esteemed career. His commitment to upholding the values of justice, safety, and community engagement has left an indelible mark on the LaSalle Police Service, the Town of LaSalle, and its residents.

Under Chief Davies’ guidance, the LaSalle Police Service has continually adapted to the evolving needs of our community, implementing innovative strategies and community engagement to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.

Throughout his tenure with the LaSalle Police Service, Chief Davies has exemplified professionalism, compassion, and dedication to public service. His unwavering commitment to justice and fairness has inspired many officers to follow his lead.

His legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to build upon the foundation he has laid to be an excellent police service and continually strive to provide a safer community.

As Chief Davies embarks on the next chapter of his life, we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement. His leadership, wisdom, and passion will be deeply missed, but his impact will endure.
